Tom O Leary

Mayor Of Fingal, Councillor

“Welcome to BELIEVE Balbriggan — a community movement built on connection, kindness, and the shared
belief that our town can thrive when every resident has the chance to take part. This is a space created for
everyone: for families, neighbours, volunteers, sports groups, youth groups, local organisations, businesses
& enterprises, every person who wants to feel more rooted, supported, and inspired in the place they call
home.

Here, we celebrate the best of Balbriggan — its creativity, its resilience, and the incredible people who make
this town what it is. Together, we are building a stronger, healthier, more connected Balbriggan where no
one feels alone, where opportunities are visible, and where community spirit is not just encouraged but
lived.

BELIEVE Balbriggan is more than a platform. It is an invitation to reconnect with real life, rediscover one
another, and believe in the power of community to change lives.”

AnnMarie Farrelly

Chief Executive of Fingal

“The organising team has played an exceptional role in shaping the BELIEVE Balbriggan initiative into a
meaningful and community‐driven project. Their professionalism, collaborative spirit, and steady leadership
have ensured that every element of this event supports its core purpose: to strengthen local connection,
improve access to supports, reduce loneliness, and encourage people of all ages to participate more fully in
community life.

Through careful planning and genuine engagement with partners, groups, and residents, the team has created a
platform that showcases the positive work happening across the town while also inspiring households to
reconnect through the Community Digital Detox Record. Their commitment has helped deliver an initiative that
not only highlights opportunity, but actively builds wellbeing, visibility, and belonging within Balbriggan.

The BELIEVE Balbriggan initiative proves that when a town unites around wellbeing, participation, and
belonging, the impact is extraordinary. This project is creating a legacy of connection—reducing loneliness,
empowering volunteers, and giving residents of all ages new ways to thrive. It is a model of what a modern,
resilient, community‐driven town can be and the impact of this work will be felt long beyond this event.”

John Quinlivan

Director of Economic, Community & Cultural Development

BELIEVE Balbriggan represents a significant community‑led contribution to the town’s wider development, operating in parallel with the structured regeneration work delivered through the Our Balbriggan programme. While Our Balbriggan continues to progress major infrastructural, public‑realm, and strategic investments that shape the physical and economic future of the town, the programme also provides a significant focus and a structure through which social and community development programmes are rolled out. BELIEVE Balbriggan complements this by helping to strengthen the social foundations on which long‑term progress depends.

This initiative places residents, volunteer groups, organisations, and local partners at the centre of community life, creating opportunities for people to participate actively and visibly in shaping Balbriggan’s wellbeing. By showcasing local initiatives, broadening engagement, and encouraging meaningful reconnection, BELIEVE Balbriggan promotes civic confidence and nurtures a culture of shared responsibility.

In doing so, it aligns with and adds depth to the broader ambitions of town rejuvenation — ensuring that as Balbriggan grows and transforms, its community remains cohesive, confident, and equipped to contribute meaningfully to its future. The initiative stands as a testament to the value of community‑driven action working alongside formal town development, demonstrating how social leadership and civic collaboration can sustain and enrich the momentum of regeneration.
